New Years Resolutions

Setting Goals

New Years is a time for excitement, celebration, and resolutions.

While such an emphasis is placed on setting those resolutions, it can often cause anxiety and inevitably desertion of the goals. So start it off right and follow some of these simple steps to ensure that you tackle your goals the right way!

But remember, the holidays are not the only time of year to set personal goals, keep tabs year round to ensure you accomplish every goal you set!

Work on one goal at a time. If you set too many you could get overwhelmed and lose focus.

Start by setting small and very descriptive goals. Make sure that you know exactly what you want out of it.

Example: I want to be able to bench press 135 lbs 2 times by March 1st vs. I want to bench press 135 lbs.

Once you have established your goal, figure out a plan to take the steps in accomplishing it. In the case of the above example, I would probably lift my chest 2-3 times a week and pyramid sets to help increase my chest strength periodically testing the 1RM. Keeping the muscles loose is also improtant so I would also make sure to stay stretched out.

Don't get discouraged if you don't see immediate results. Keep in mind that habits take time to form and if you eat well one week, you may not see any changes right away. Be patient!
