Chest Exercises
Tone and build strength in your chest and shoulders

Chest exercises will help to build your upper body strength while shaping your pectoral muscles. The shoulders act as a secondary muscle group in these exercises therefore they also are being used.

It is important to warm up before performing these exercises to ensure adequate range of motion and avoid injury.

Muscles of the Chest

The chest muscles consist of the pectoralis major and pectoralis minor. The pectoralis major is a fan shaped muscle which lets a person move the arm across the front of the body. This muscle originates on the breastbone and attaches to the humerus bone near the shoulder joint.

The pectoralis minor is a smaller muscle located under the pec major. This muscle originates in the middle ribs and attaches to the scapula at the coracoid process. This muscle is used mainly in moving your shoulders in a shrugging motion.
